Podengo Portugueso Pequeno Temperament

Also known as the Portuguese Hound, the Podengo Portugueso Pequeno is the smallest of three sizes in the Podengo Portugueso breed, the others being the large and the medium varieties.

This breed is a highly intelligent, very active, and loving one, and is courageous as well as lively. The personality of this breed makes it ideal as a companion dog, although some may be aggressive with other dogs. However, they tend to be very amicable creatures and get along fine with kids.

The height of the Podengo Portugueso Pequeno is around 9-12 inches and it weighs around 9-12.5 pounds. The coat can vary, and may be medium length and shaggy, or may be shiny and short. Colouring of the Podengo Portugueso Pequeno can be combinations of fawn and white. Small, chestnut eyes are set into a triangular face with a long muzzle. The body of the Podengo Portugueso Pequeno is slender yet well muscled.

The Podengo Portugueso Pequeno is a good choice for a family pet, although he is an active dog and will need plenty of exercise, so will also need a fairly active owner. This dog may be better living in a house than an apartment, as his need for exercise will mean that a yard or garden is required.
